Whether you're heading to the pubs, clubs, or meeting friends, please keep these key safety tips in mind: ✅ Plan Ahead Know your route home – pre-book licensed taxis or arrange lifts.Stick with friends – look out for each other and stay together.Charge your phone – keep it powered for emergencies or directions.🚕 Travel Smart Only use licensed taxis – check for Wigan Council plates and signage.Use well-lit areas for pick-ups and drop-offs.Share your location with a trusted contact.🛡️ Look Out for Each Other If you feel unsafe, use the “Ask for Angela” scheme at participating venues.Speak to Safety Marshals in Wigan, Leigh, and Atherton town centres – they’re there to help.Report any inappropriate behaviour via 101 or 999 in emergencies.🏠Visit the Safety Haven – Wigan Town Centre Located on King Street, the Safety Haven is open: Fridays: 9pm – 2amSaturdays: 11pm – 5amStaffed by trained personnel, the Haven offers: A safe space if you feel vulnerable, unwell, or need help.Access to phone chargers, support getting home, and a place to wait for transport.A base for emergency services, enhancing safety in the area.This initiative is part of Wigan Council’s ongoing work to promote a safe and welcoming night-time economy.
